Just arrived home from an evening spent with Congelton Writers. I was leading a workshop for them and they were all so responsive. We did flash fiction and poetry, and they were also an appreciative audience for an introductory and closing reading.
They have now been going for 2o years, starting from a Writing for Pleasure class I used to teach back in the day. After three years of classes from me, I bowed out to give them a change of leader. Thanks to Kevin Fegan, who was a poet in residence in Cheshire at the time, they had the idea of forming a writers group and going DIY. They are still going strong, though three of the people I used to teach have died, and another no longer writes.
Here’s to the next 20 years for them!
